"To be or not to be" which is a super famous saying in Hamlet because people are able to get the theme through this sentence. And my understanding for this is Hamlet was actually an person who was brave to promote justice. And his process of revenge gave him too much pressure. This soliloquy gives reader a chance to know Hamlet's characteristic. However, if it were a conversation, it would not clear what Hamlet really thought. Therefore, I agree with Benedict Cumberbatch that soliloquy allows audience to empathize Hamlet better.

Conversation needs at least two people, which sometimes obscure one's opinion. However soliloquy only has one person talking so every single words he speaks is his major purpose. And it is just soliloquy's function which is emphasizing. Moreover it indicates Hamlet has consciousness that step by step revenge for his father.

It is an important speech because this part determines  Hamlet is struggling in whether kill his uncle or not. At first,Hamlet thought everyone is good guy. However his father got murdered, he realized this world is not  not that simple and pure. People can do many crazy things in order to get what they want. As he was considering to be or not to be, he was becoming a real adult who knows darkness is in the world.

This soliloquy is kind of theme of Hamlet, which tells advantage and disadvantage of revenge. In my opinion, Hamlet never surely decide to revenge, although he kept doing things for revenge. Anyway his  revenge process is challenging.
